Swimming provides me with a unique type of pleasure that I cannot obtain from any other activity. Swimming is one of my favorite childhood memories. When I was about 8 or 9 years old, I went to the pool with my father and brother, and my speed was much faster than my father’s. My father was holding my foot and pulling me back during the race, so I devised my own strategy. I trailed my father until the last 5-10 meters, when I overtook him and won. Later, at dinner, when my father declared victory after leading for the majority of the race, I remember helplessly saying, ‘Mommy.’ In short, my father succeeded in rendering me helpless.
I’ve loved water since I was a child, and my swimming lessons with my brother and father continued in the Etlik Olympic swimming pool. Pitching and butterfly are two of my favorite swimming styles.
As the ‘Etlik swimming team,’ we compete in inter-municipal swimming races.
